The Book of Revelation Chapter 11 – Overview

In Revelation chapter 11 v 14 it says “the second woe has past, the third woe is coming soon. I cannot find the third woe or any reference to what the third woe means

In Revelation chapter 11, it speaks  concerning the two witnesses. It says that the gentiles or nations of  the world will trample the Holy City: “The holy city shall they  tread under foot FORTY AND TWO MONTHS” (Rev 11:2).  But the next  verse says that: “I will give power unto my two witnesses, and  they shall prophesy A THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY DAYS, clothed in  sackcloth” (Rev 11:3).

It has long been expected that the prophet Elijah would appear some year at Passover to announce the coming of the Messiah. And, we also know that Elijah is most likely one of the two witnesses of Revelation chapter 11.[/symple_highlight]

I believe that the two olive trees to the left and right of the menorah, discharging gold coloured oil through the two gold sprouts, who have been anointed with oil are the two witnesses spoken of in the book of Revelation. Revelation chapter 11 also refer to these two witnesses as two menorahs because the light and glory of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach (Jesus the Messiah) will emanate from them. The eyes of humanity will see their light throughout the earth.

In order to show you this, we’re going to have to dissect the entire chapter of Revelation 11. I am going to do this in a series since we will have to explain many terms to understand the book as whole. I am not going to dissect Revelation chapter 11 in order because I believe it will benefit the reader better if we first look at the identity of the two witnesses and then return to the rest of the chapter.

The witnesses were not to lay dead in the city in general but “in the street of the great city.” “The street” must refer to some part but not the whole of spiritual Babylon, thus showing that France has been an effective part for the papacy.
means not just foretelling the future. The more common meaning for “prophesy” is to bring the Word of God to bear on the world — both law and Gospel. The church’s task is to tell the unbelieving, unheeding, profane world what God says. Much of this rejection also contains the element of delusion in thinking which happens to people on account of sin. This has been mentioned earlier in Revelation

These witnesses will prophesy for twelve  hundred and sixty days or 3 and 1/2 years, that is, they will speak  under the inspiration of God during their time of ministry. They will  be clothed in sackcloth, that is, in humility and grief. In the Old  Testament we notice that sackcloth was worn during times of grief and  repentance. The true church brings forth a witness of Christ in  humility and repentance, and also grieves for those who do not accept  the gospel message.

After the two witnesses have finished their witness for 1,260 days the beast, who has now gained worldwide control, will kill them and allow their bodies to lie in the streets of Jerusalem for three and one-half-days.   J. Vernon McGee notes: ?It is likened unto Sodom by Isaiah (see Isa. 1:10).  It is called Egypt because the world has entered into every fiber of its life?social and political.  It is conclusively identified as Jerusalem by the sad designation, ?where also their Lord was crucified??(5:982).  The world will celebrate the deaths of these two prophets who had tormented them by sending gifts to one another
