Seven Spirits of God in the Revelation

it’s good to share the Bible it is such an honor to be able to share the truth from God’s Word I have loved doing it now for more than 20 years when I was 19 years old for those of you who hadn’t come since last night cuz I shared a little bit about my experience but when I was 19 years old my mother’s prayers were answered and through a series of miraculous Providence’s I came to the point where I picked up those ancient words I started reading and my life has radically changed I was into drugs I was into drinking and I was into all the stuff that goes along with being a heavy-metal drummer in a band for nine years and so all of that and all of what comes with it is not worth comparing with the life that I have now I know where to get that stuff I’m not dumb but it’s nowhere near as exciting and fulfilling as living with Christ so it is really an honor to be able to present the message tonight from the book of Revelation so if you’d like to open your Bible I’m gonna be praying with you all one more time but then we are gonna look at the holy words the ancient words starting again in the book of Revelation this will be the second look at it last time we were only looking at Revelation verses 1 through 3 generally we’ll get a little bit further by the way I did a whole series on the book of Revelation there was 30 parts all of them 58 minutes and 30 seconds they were prepared for video distribution on television they didn’t make it that far they went to a few places but not as far as I had hoped but they’re still available online if anybody’s interested and you would learn a lot with me as that certainly taught me a lot all the study and preparation for it but since you’re in revelation one should keep your fingers there bow your heads and we’re gonna pray and then we’ll get into God’s Word father again I want to thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to be able to be together to study your word in a free country Lord I know that this book that we’re about to open is illegal in a lot of places and I know the enemy is trying to break down those that have studied and know what the contents of this book are this is your book Lord and we give it up to you we ask that you would please bless us with your spirit so that our carnal minds will understand spiritual things right now I pray that you would empower us our minds that we can conclude what it is that the Spirit is saying to the churches help us to be directed by you I thank you so much for giving us this opportunity may your angels as we talked about last night draw near and minister to us keeping away the darkness and the distractions thank you for the gifts of the Spirit we pray that that peace the joy the love the long-suffering the gentleness goodness faith meekness and temperance would be with us tonight bless those that couldn’t make it and those perhaps that are still coming again be with our families as I’m currently away from mine I pray you would extend your loving hand there and bless us to this end again do not trust me with any words before this your people here as we’re gathered in your tent tonight in Jesus name Amen so God’s tent could we call this the tabernacle of the Lord Revelation chapter 1 you know we were we were listening in that song I’ve heard it only a few times but I really liked that song thank you for singing and it was talking about being persecuted for the Word of God I want you to notice Revelation chapter 1 verse 9 I John being the author of the book of Revelation I was also am your brother and companion in tribulation so John was going through tribulation why notice what it says in the verse I was in tribulation and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ was in the isle that is called Patmos for two things the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ you see John had been persecuted for the sake of teaching the Word of God and for believing and teaching the testimony that Jesus had given during that three and a half years that he was on this earth and John was able to bear witness of that testimony because he had walked with Jesus being one of the very first persons that Christ called to walk with him and in fact John was one of the last persons that was with Christ you remember right before he died if you compare the Gospels Matthew Mark Luke and then John so you compare Matthew Mark and Luke with John you’ll notice that in Matthew Mark and Luke they recorded the things that Christ said when he was on the cross they recorded those things that he said with a loud voice but John on the other hand he recorded the things that Jesus said what was the difference John was right by the cross he was right there see everybody else had scattered just a few days before Jesus had said the shepherd will be smitten and the sheep will scatter according to the prophecy of Zechariah chapter what 9 I think it is maybe 13 I don’t recall 6 I don’t know just look for yourself read the book of Zechariah if you haven’t done it in a while and so what happens is it goes on that Jesus had prophesied they’d be smitten everybody was except for John and so John he’s the only one that we know of according to him safe foxes Book of Martyrs that did not die a martyr’s death a martyr’s death what do I mean by martyrs death somebody who kills you for your faith sake makes you a martyr so everybody died ok Peter James Bartholomew Andrew Matthew these folk were killed for the faith that they held the only one that didn’t die was John do you know in foxes Book of Martyrs it actually talks about how that was his name it wasn’t Nero who was it Diocletian I think you might be right I don’t remember the name you know I’m getting caught in kind of caught off guard and sidetracked on this thought here because it because of the song I’m kind of being spurred by that but what happened is one of the lead that was leading in the persecutions actually called him to be taken before a crowd of people and burned alive in a pot of boiling oil that’s what they wanted to do to John but guess what according to foxes Book of Martyrs and other traditions he did not die and so as a result of not being able to kill him with boiling oil what did he do he sent him to the island of Patmos if you can’t beat him send him away right and so it happens that John he was able to go without being a martyr he didn’t die by somebody’s hand he died of an old age so that’s John here he’s the one that’s writing this book we’ve already talked about how he was given the revelation of God that he gave to Jesus who Jesus gave it to the angel and the angel gave it to John and John is supposed to give it to us so if you read this Bible you’ll be able to notice like it says in verse 3 you’ll be blessed if you read it if you hear it and if you keep those things that are written therein notice though what it says in verse 1 again just just I want to focus on one word in verse 1 the revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave the word gave is that past present or future tense that’s past tense ok jump down to verse 4 notice what happens John to the seven churches which are in Asia the word are is that past present or future tense present tense okay so the Word of God was given he’s to present it to the churches which are in Asia and the notice as it says there in verse seven it says behold he talkin about Jesus he cometh with clouds and every eye shall see him the word shall past present or future future now what’s going on here what you’re seeing here so far in the book of Revelation is that John is instructing you to learn from the things of history things that are current and things in the future now the reason why I say that is there are many people that will teach the book of Revelation as though everything is either in the past or in the future it’s called preterism or rather historic preterism or futurism I was getting those ones mixed up preterism is everything is pre done everything has been done previously okay preterism and also futurism everything’s gonna be done in the future so they’ll say the book of Revelation is not really appropriate for us it doesn’t apply to us it’s you know something that you can learn but not until some events occur in the future which I won’t get into the details of that’s when it’s gonna be important well that doesn’t make any sense at all none at all not with the Bible itself that’s my conviction notice what it says in verse 19 revelation 1 verse 19 write the things which thou hast seen what is that past present or future that’s past okay write the things which thou hast seen and the things which are past present or future present and the things which shall be Hereafter future again so far what we have here in the book of Revelation chapter one past present future and so anytime you read the book of Revelation I believe we are able to see things that have fulfilled in the past things that are currently now as though not as though we’re writing the book of Revelation like John was but this is how it’s fulfilling and there are still things in the future I can show you right now there’s stuff in the future for example go to Revelation chapter 20 just in your head and you’ll see the thousand years are described and the holy city coming down in chapter 21 and the Saints living throughout eternity eating from the tree of life in 22 that hasn’t happened yet that’s still future but John was on the island of Patmos almost 2,000 years ago that has happened and we’re somewhere in between John and the coming of Jesus and this book is going to be relevant for us until Christ comes and even after he comes and so have nobody tell you that this book isn’t relevant for you because this as we said last night is the revelation remember that’s the only time that word is used in this book the revelation one time and it’s the revelation of who it says in verse 1 the revelation of Jesus Christ so if you haven’t studied this book please take the time to study this book but let me just say it like I said it last night the better you know the entire Bible the better you will know the book of Revelation because the book of Revelation is a summation of the 65 books that precede it okay so revelation sums up the 65 books because there are 66 books in the Bible it sums up the 65 books that are in the entire Bible so now remember I talked about the number 7 last night I just touched on it for a minute you know there are seven rather 12 times in chapter one alone the word seven occurs somebody’s gonna take out their smartphone and be like what just go ahead and search it search Revelation and you’ll count 12 times in Chapter one and so you never knew that when you read the book of Revelation until you started focusing on the word so you’ve got it you’ve got a look you got a dig you got to ask questions you got to see every way from every perspective and why are we asking about this 7 word well there’s 7 churches you can see it in chapter 1 verse 4 there are seven trumpets seven horses seven seals seven thunders seven plagues you’ve got all kinds of sevens in the book of Revelation now why what’s that what’s the point I think one of the main points is because God wants to define himself define himself with seven what do you mean well have you asked have you ever asked yourself the question where does the weekly cycle come from where does seven come from some of you probably haven’t that’s okay but I want to ask you some questions where does a solar year come from where did we get the year from what using the solar bodies I heard it the Earth revolves around the Sun right some of you flat earthers are like no it’s not how it happens let me just say it that way the Earth rotates around the Sun and so that gives you a year now where do you get a month from the moon goes around the earth okay so we have the year we have the month where does the day come from the Earth rotates on its axis 365 times as it goes one time around the Sun remember and so where do you get the week from some of you folks know you get it from creation from the very first story in the Bible in fact Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 says in the beginning God what’s the next word created okay so if you want to know who God is you’re gonna open up the Bible and you’re gonna read about God as a creator right in the beginning God created you’re like wow this is a God who can create what God can create well he created everything in how many days uh-oh I knew somebody was going to say 7 it was actually 6 oh you’re right he created everything in six days interestingly he rested the seventh day you can read all about that in Genesis chapter 1 and 2 so do your homework go ahead and read that about that so that’s what I think that’s the word 7 is in the book of Revelation you’ve got seven of so many things because God is defining himself as the creator who established seven in the very creation of this world and no I do not believe the Bible teaches evolution I think we’re teaching creation and there’s not two options you can’t have creation and evolution you either have one or the other and I stick with the one the Bible describes creation so now notice what it’s saying there in verse four of Revelation 1 John to the seven churches which are in Asia grace be unto you piano it’s funny the book of Revelation the very end time book the one that applies mostly to the people at the end of time we’re talking about the mark of the beast we’re talking about the seal of God we’re talking about the 144,000 right before Christ comes you know what I’m talking about this is like the book at the end of time how many times you think the word grace appears in the book of Revelation take a random guess ok 12 and 7 good question good good answers because 12 is a kingdom number 7 is the number we were just talking about you would think that it’s all through the book of Revelation it only happens twice it happens once right here in verse 4 and right at the very end of the book Revelation chapter 22 in fact it’s verse 21 so it’s it’s like grace begins the book and grace ends the book I think that’s pretty interesting because if any word you would think is necessary in the book of Revelation it would be grace but God had a different mind grace be unto you and peace how many times you think the word peace occurs twice once from God and in Chapter six once peace was taken from the earth by the enemy now interesting so grace and peace from him which is what is that current pastor present that’s present tense and which was past tense and which is to come future again a third time right here in chapter one so you have past present and future right there now so we’re being introduced to somebody here it says grace and peace from him which is and which was and which is to come and from the seven spirits which are before his throne so there’s the father there I believe that is the father and we’ll describe why in a minute who he is he was he is to come and then from the seven spirits which are before his throne the seven spirits we can learn more about that later and from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness okay the father the one who is who was and who is to come talks about seven spirits and then it talks about Jesus Christ what’s fascinating is that we talked about last night remember there’s God the Father and gave the revelation to his son and his son gave the revelation to who an angel and the angel gave it to John now normally we would say wait a minute where is the spirit God the Father the Son the spirit to John but here it’s very clear revelation you read it for yourself it’s given to the angel from Jesus to John now we talked about the Angels last night very interesting the angels actually have the spirit of prophecy as it says there in the book of Revelation but you have these seven spirits here that now that are introduced you have God the father the one who is and which was and which is to come and then the seven spirits and then you have Jesus Christ I want you to notice something in chapter three verse one I want you to see the Bible talks again about the seven spirits revelation three verse one unto the Angel of the Church of Sardis write these things saith he which have the seven spirits of God oh they are the seven spirits but they are the seven spirits of God okay so they’re the spirits of God seven of them now again seven I I personally don’t believe there are seven spirits because my Bible here’s why the book of Revelation is in a very large part symbolic you know what that means their each word illustrates not each but many words illustrate other things and there are ways that you can determine what things are symbolic and what things are not but it seems to be that in the book of Revelation the word seven or the number seven is symbolic now not only does it point you to the creator but it’s also referring to the complete or totality of that thing and so we have the completion of the seven spirit or the completion of the Spirit and it’s God’s Spirit and you can find seven characteristics like for example in Isaiah 11 you can find those characteristics in the Bible and you can find the Spirit of the Lord the spirit of wisdom the spirit of understanding the spirit of counsel and you can go through those seven there are seven how would you say characteristics of that of the Spirit and some people have connected those together and I think that’s fine you can do that but according to Ephesians chapter four there is how many spirits there is one spirit just like there is one God and just like there’s one Lord one God in one Lord what do you mean first Corinthians 8 verse six there’s one god and father of all and one Lord Jesus Christ now of whom it says all things are from the father by whom all things are through the son that’s what rebel force Corinthians chapter 8 verse 6 says so we’re trying to establish though about these seven spirits for a moment notice what it says though it says the seven spirits of God in chapter three verse one now jump over to chapter four and verse five revelation 4 and verse 5 we’re going to see these seven spirits again it says there in Revelation 4 verse 5 out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne which are the seven spirits of God oh it explains it so now but there’s still some symbology here the reason being is it says in verse five they are the seven lamps of fire burning lamps of fire burning so now in Revelation chapter one if you know the story Jesus shows up and he’s ministering between the candlesticks now the candlesticks are not the lamps the candlesticks are those things that contain the lamps upon them the lamps of fire you see and so the candlesticks actually in Revelation chapter 1 verse 20 describes that it’s referring to the churches the seven churches those are the lamp stands now here we have seven it says seven lamps of fire burning so now the fire on those candlesticks are what’s being referred to and that’s the seven spirits of God what’s interesting is that it’s not just the seven spirits it’s the seven spirits of God right now let’s try to find out where these seven spirits come from in this book of Revelation now there are 29 times that the word lamb is used what word lamb kind of like a sheep it’s a lamb now every single time except for once it refers to somebody symbolically who is it Jesus Christ for example in John chapter 1 verse 29 John the Baptist not the author of the book of John but John the Baptist he sees Jesus and he cries out behold the what Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world so he calls Jesus the Lamb of God so now we’re in the book of Revelation we see this Lamb we can say ooh that’s Christ the Bible has described to be the Lamb of God which as he was pointed to Jesus that’s what the name that he gave him so one of these times in the book of Revelation where the word lamb is used is in Chapter five notice what it says in chapter five and verse six the Bible says in verse chapter five verse six I beheld and lo in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts and in the midst of the elders stood a lamb okay now think about what’s happening there’s a big throne there there’s four beasts or four living creatures and other translation gifts so there’s this beautiful throne these four living creatures they’re in the midst of the elders there’s actually 24 of those elders so you’ve got these four living creatures 24 elders you’ve got this really I think it’s a very large throne if you do all the math and how many elders and how many living creatures and how many angels are there it must be a very big place that this throne is in and so it says there there’s this lamb as it had been slain okay so if the lamb is Christ what does it mean as it had been slain was Christ ever slain well yeah he died on the cross didn’t he why did he die on the cross you see Adam had chosen to follow Eve Eve had been deceived Adam chose to sin as a result of that choice to break the commands of God because you know the Bible says in 1st John chapter 3 verse 4 that the sin is breaking God’s law or going contrary to God’s commands so sin is the transgression of the law and Adam had transgressed God’s law God had said don’t eat of the tree Adam had eaten of the tree through the medium of his wife I’m sure there’s something there that I’m not seeing but I’m feeling it I’m sure there’s a connection there somehow just keep that in your head and you can study it later so what’s happening is through the medium his wife Adam partakes of this fruit so he had sinned now because the Bible says in Isaiah 59 verses 2 that sin separates you from God Adam now was separated from the source of life Adam had been separated from God and so what’s the result the wages of sin is yes you said it death and so he was supposed to die but if you read in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 God had promised a seed and that seed would come and that seed would destroy the children or the seed of the serpent he would stomp on his head it says yet the serpent would come up and bite his heel and so that biting the heel was Christ on the cross the whole scenario there are maybe I’m saying too much but what we have is Christ died so that he could pay the ransom of buying Adam back to his kingdom you see hid Adam had sold himself to the enemy he had sold himself to a life of destruction and God was able to pay the ransom to bring him back he paid the penalty of sin Christ did he died in Adam’s place and so what do we have we have Christ as a lamb slain that’s what we’re picturing here we’re picturing Christ on the cross with all that history that brings you to the point where you also can receive forgiveness of your sin you see I know what I’m talking about when I’m talking about sin because I’ve been there I’m not perfect now I won’t claim to be perfect but I’m saying that my life is a whole lot different than it used to be I’m telling you I’ve been into the drugs I’ve been into the drink and I’ve been into all those things that come along with it I’ve been up days at a time I’ve been in the wrong place too many times I beat folk up and I’ve been beat up God was able to forgive me of my sin now what does the Bible say about that first John chapter 1 verse 9 it says if we confess our sins it does not say as Billy Graham has said so many times if you confess that you’re a sinner it doesn’t say that the Bible says if you confess your sins what is the sin transgression of the law if you say Lord I am sorry I have stolen that thing Lord I’m sorry I lied to this person and as a result of lying I caused so much pain I’m sorry for wanting so many things that I shouldn’t have I’m sorry for committing adultery either with my eyes or was my heart or inactions I’m sorry for all these things so you’re confessing the actual sins that you can remember then believe me God will bring them to your memory because he has them all written down now God’s not gonna snuff you out because you’re coming to him he’s gonna take you and he’s gonna wipe you clean in fact the Bible says if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive you your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness what does that leave you clean you need to be clean cuz you’re feeling dirty God has it for you and me every one of us so now revelation chapter five verse six there’s the lamb as it had been slain notice what has what this lamb has it’s a lamb as it had been slain having seven horns again there’s that word seven what are horns by the way have a Habakkuk chapter 3 talks about the horns are the hiding of his power horns can be related to power they can also be related to kingly Authority or kingdoms but here we’re having this king or this lamb having seven horns horns being power so he’s been given power but given power what do I mean was he say in Matthew chapter 28 verse 18 all power has been what given unto me jesus said and so these horns are representing power all power why because he was able to say all power has been given unto me given unto by who by God Almighty you see what’s interesting is Jesus is God I believe that it’s because he’s the son of God he’s not the father he’s you can’t call Jesus father God because there’s only one father he’s the god of our Lord Jesus Christ you can see that seven times interesting the word seven seven times I could show you right now in the New Testament Jesus calls God my God think about the cross my God my God why hast thou forsaken me he said it twice on the cross referring to his father why have you forsaken me another time where he is visiting Thomas in the book of John and I think it’s in the book of John yeah and he says I will ascend to my father and to your father and to my god and to your God and then here in the book of Revelation in one verse he does it four times the pillar of my God the temple of my god the name of my god the city of my god that’s in Chapter three and I don’t remember the verse so if you want to know I’ll let you know but you’ll just have to ask me anyways this this lamb he’s got seven horns all this power and seven eyes what are the eyes oh you go through chronicles you go through Zechariah you go through a few other verses in the Bible and you realize that the Angels play a part in being the eyes of the Lord running to and fro throughout all the earth I kid you not the Angels so remember the Lord in the book of John I’m sorry James he’s called Lord of Sabaoth is he not you remember that what is the word sub a off me no it doesn’t mean Sabbath Ceballos yeah thank you it’s the Lord of hosts what are the hosts the Angels he’s the Lord of the Angels Christ is so here you have the seven horns and the seven eyes notice now in the last part of verse six which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth the seven spirits wait didn’t we read about that before the throne in chapter one didn’t we read that Christ is the one that had the seven spirits in chapter three verse one didn’t we read that the flames on the candlesticks are the seven spirits of God and don’t we read here in a further connection that we have Christ with the seven horns in the seven eyes which are the seven spirits sent forth into all the earth okay so those seven spirits coming from heaven down to the earth where did they come from from heaven but who had them to give them what does it say right there in chapter five verse 6 the lamb as it had been slain had the seven horns and the seven eyes which are the seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth so the lamb is the one that had the seven horns and the seven eyes the lamb is the one from which it says the things that he had on him are the seven spirits of God and from the lamb the Spirit of God was sent into all the earth I challenge you on it study it you’ll find it’s true that’s why Paul was able to say like for example in Colossians chapter one verse 27 the mystery they were supposed to proclaim to the Gentiles is what Christ in you the hope of glory who in you Christ in you that’s what Paul said now Paul wasn’t done there because if you go to Galatians chapter 2 verse 20 he says this I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live yet not i but who lives in me Christ lives me in the life that I now live I live by the faith of somebody who is it the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me like the lamb as it had been slain right here in Revelation chapter 5 and so this seven spirits of God are before the throne of God in chapter 1 but you can see later as you study the book of Revelation it’s the seven spirits that were the horns and the eyes of the Lamb that were sent forth into all the earth Christ is the one that has given the gift of His Holy Spirit why because he’s the only mediator between God and men you ever thought of that before how do we get to God we get to God through Christ he says I am the way the truth and the life no man comes unto the father but by me that’s John chapter fourteen verse six and so if we want the seven spirits of God it comes from Christ through Christ why because he’s the Lamb that was slain in order to be the Lamb that was slain what did Christ have to do he had to die can God die God doesn’t die the Bible says God alone hath immortality now the life that Jesus has was a life given in fact let’s turn there real quick John chapter 5 you’re gonna if you haven’t seen this version you’ll be like what the Bible says that yes it does John chapter 5 notice what it says in John chapter 5 verse 26 John chapter 5 verse 26 it says as the father that would be the father of Christ as the father has life in himself so hath he given to the son to have life in himself so now just think about it for a second as the father has life in himself that life he has given to the son to have life in himself now if Christ said all power has been given unto me what he’s saying here also is life has been given unto me whoa that’ll blow your mind what it sometimes we don’t think this way but that’s what the Bible is saying and the Bible says that that seven spirits of God is a gift from the father but it has to come through the Sun because the Sun is the only one that could be a mediator between God and men why do I say that turn to 2nd Timothy 2nd Timothy chapter 2 and or first Timothy actually 1st Timothy chapter 2 and verse 5 first Timothy 2 and verse 5 notice what the Bible says here first Timothy 2 verse 5 there is how many gods there is one God and one mediator between God and men what’s the next two words the man Christ Jesus it doesn’t say the Son of God though that’s true but it has to be the man Christ Jesus why the man because Christ is the only one who could live in a world to be tempted what do I mean the Bible says God cannot be tempted with evil you’ve read that before haven’t you that’s in the book of James chapter one God cannot be tempted with evil and so in order for God a perfect God to be able to interact with humans that have fallen what he has to do is send a son to be a human so now divinity has partaken of divinity he lives this life and he’s able to overcome temptation and as a result of overcoming temptation as and dying as the Lamb that had been slain he is now able to give his gift of righteousness he’s able to surrender that the ability for us as humans to partake in the same divinity that he partook in Christ the father’s divinity because the Bible says in what at second Peter chapter 1 verse 4 I think it is it says that we threw precious exceeding great and precious promises we can partake of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust that’s awesome we have the ability to enter into that same human divine connection that Christ had he gives that to us as a gift that’s his righteousness the gift of Christ’s righteousness you’ve heard of justification by faith haven’t you justified how because I’ve done well enough no because Christ has given me the gift of his righteousness and so what we have is this one mediator between God and man or men the man Christ Jesus you remember John chapter 1 verse 51 where he says to Nathaniel he says you think that’s pretty neat you’re gonna see greater things than this pretty soon you’re gonna see angels ascending and descending upon the Son of man what does he mean Christ has one divine hand on the throne of God and another human hand on the hand or throne of humanity if you will I don’t know how to word that one the earth and so between that connection that bridge if you will angels are able to descend and ascend you remember Matthew 18 where it says the angels of my father of these little ones they see my father’s face regularly obviously they ascend and descend and they record things that are done to the children you can read it for yourself Matthew 18 Jacob’s Ladder there was a dream in the book of Genesis I don’t remember the chapter but maybe 26 and we were on there in the 20s I think you have this dream that Jacob had and he saw angels ascending and descending upon this ladder angels the Spirit of God now not saying that the angels are the Spirit of God but I will say that angels are ministering spirits and they’ve not sinned so therefore they are holy you could call them in a sense ministers of the holy spirit because when they come around and they influence you with their Holy Spirit I like to think of them being able to walk their wings and scatter the darkness away from you and they can protect you they can bless you they can instruct you just like they instructed John just like they nourished and encouraged the Spirit of Christ not only in the temptation but only also in the Garden of Gethsemane and you realize that this the seven spirits that we’re talking about in the book of Revelation it can’t be given to us except through the man Christ Jesus and so it was imperative that Jesus Christ would come to this earth if he didn’t you wouldn’t have access to the spirit that is holy you would be stuck with Adam he would have given you a fallen sinful nature and as a result you would have died without hope and so Adam and Eve if they would have had a child they would have died shortly thereafter that would have been the it that would have been it for Humanity but because of the promises of Christ like for example in genesis I will send a seed and he will crush the head of the serpent because of that promise Adam and Eve and all the others that followed after in the train of thinking that that write that follows along with righteousness doing that which is right not choosing to follow the carnal nature but that which is the righteous nature the nature that God gives us the how do you say that the divine nature having escaped the corruption in the world through lust if you make those choices empowered by the Spirit of God you are able to then overcome sin and that was all the gift that Christ had given had promised in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 giving you that probationary time where you will be able to choose the kingdom of Christ rather than the kingdom of the enemy you see so there in the book of Revelation we’re just looking a little bit at the experience of Christ being able to be the one that enables us to receive the seven spirits of God which are before his throne as it says in Revelation chapter 1 verse 4 you couldn’t get to that spirit without Christ that was my whole purpose in explaining all these things but I want you to notice something now it says in Revelation chapter 1 verse 13 revelation 1 verse 13 before we get there I’ll just tell you what happened John was in the spirit on the Lord’s Day he heard a voice behind him as though it were a trumpet he turns around he looks to see the voice of the one who spake with him he didn’t go to he didn’t turn around to see the face of the one he turned around to see the voice of the one that speak with him you can read it for yourself he sees Christ and Christ is the one that’s able to say hey I’ve got a letter for seven churches I want you to record everything that you see and everything that you hear and John starts writing so what happens is in verse 12 I turned to see the voice that spake with me and being turned I saw seven golden candlesticks now chapter one verse 20 talks about those candlesticks representing the churches in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man who’s the son of man Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the son of man and he’s the one walking in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks those candlesticks represent what now the churches Jesus Christ the Son of Man is pictured in the book of Revelation as the one walking in the midst of the churches Jesus is doing then exactly Jesus is walking in the midst of the churches why because he’s the one that had the seven horns in the seven eyes which are the seven spirits of God sent forth and all the earth it’s the Spirit of Christ that’s why Christ in you is the hope of glory and so Christ is there in the midst of the churches but notice as we go on Christ is the one that gives this message to the churches because remember he said you need to write down these seven letters to the seven churches notice what it says in chapter two verse one under the Church of Ephesus now jump over to verse eight on to the Church of Smyrna now jump over to verse 12 on to the Church of Pergamos and you can go on there’s seven churches seven letters to the seven churches but I want you to notice something at the end of every one of the churches it says in verse 7 of chapter 2 Revelation chapter 2 verse 7 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches wait a minute who’s the ones speaking to John to write the letters to the churches it’s the son of man Jesus and as Jesus is speaking to John he commands John to write he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith to the churches now not only does that to the first church jump down to the second church which is verse 11 now to verse 11 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches what about chapter 2 verse 17 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith to that church what about verse 29 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto that church what about chapter 3 verse 6 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto that church what about verse 13 of chapter 3 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto that church finally the last church let’s see if it continues verse 22 he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches again the son of man is the one who has visited John who is pictured standing in the midst of the churches and he’s saying I want you to write a letter to each of these seven churches and when I tell you what to write you write those things and what I’m saying to you tell them they are from the spirit from the spirit I got two more two more verses for you first Peter chapter one first Peter chapter one not too far back just a couple of books first Peter chapter one it says in verse eleven the prophets were searching the Bible that’s what this is saying you can read verse ten on your own the prophets were searching the Bible and it says in verse 11 searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of who Christ which was in them did signify okay wait a minute it’s talking about the prophets of old these ancient words that you were talking about dear sister the prophets of old were writing these ancient words and these prophets were searching to find out what time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify don’t miss that point the Spirit of Christ was in the prophets of old the Spirit of Christ why because there’s only one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus and so they had to have the same channel to receive the Spirit of the Father it was through the son therefore making it the Spirit of Christ ultimately the Spirit of the Father now jump back to Revelation chapter 3 I want you to I want you to see something in the very last Church Revelation chapter 3 and verse 20 Revelation chapter 3 verse 20 remember now Jesus is speaking and he’s saying he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches and then notice verse 20 it says behold I stand at the door and knock who is it that standing at the door knocking Jesus he’s the one that’s speaking he’s the one telling John to write and Jesus is the one standing at the door and knocking not somebody else it’s Jesus behold I stand at the door knock If any man hear my voice my voice he is the word of God isn’t he If any man hear my voice and open the door I will come into him I will sup with him and he with me so who is it according to the Bible that we’re supposed to let into our hearts Jesus Christ Christ in you the hope of glory this life that you now live you are not to live of your own you’re to live by the faith of the Son of God who lives in you who gave himself for you and so I’m wondering with a little bit of a look here at the book of Revelation I’m wondering if you’d say Lord I don’t understand all the details this is a huge topic the Spirit of God the seven spirits before the throne the seven spirits that were sent forth into all the earth but I can see some connections that it’s your son Jesus Christ who wants to come into my life and I wonder if tonight you’d be willing to say Lord I want you to come into my life you know it’s not like God actually walks into your life and so that God is in you no it’s the Spirit of God what does that mean it’s the mind of God let this mind be in you which was also we’re in Christ Jesus let this mind be in you by the way that’s Philippians chapter 2 verse 5 and so God is asking tonight if you’re willing to accept the invitation of Christ knocking on the door of your heart he wants to come in he wants to take over your life you know outside there are too many people that have given their life over to the enemy I mean they’re blowing themselves up they’re driving vehicles into crowds of people they’re committing suicide they’re doing gang shootings gang raping all this other stuff we can go on and on and on you know that it’s there’s enough sin out there we don’t need more sinners we need more people that are turned to the Lord and if tonight you’re willing and you’re willing to have him come in after you open the door of your your mind or your heart and you say lord please come in then I want you to do that with me because I’m gonna do it if you all would like to make that decision I’m inviting you to stand with me and we’ll be able to pray we’ll be able to ask God to please come into our lives and take this opportunity to mold us shape us transform us make us into those new people as you were singing about earlier we’re gonna hear another song in a moment but as we’re bowing our heads let’s invite the Lord into our lives father I want to thank you for giving us this opportunity to be able to understand a little bit more of what the Bible is saying in the book of Revelation I thank you for teaching us and guiding us giving us the opportunity as was mentioned yesterday in a free country to be able to come together and worship like this as was mentioned Lord we know there’s enough evil there are enough sinners in this world we don’t need to add to that pot we need to add to the group of those who really want to follow you I know yesterday the appeal was made to study your word for the people who came to take a decision to read the Bible for themselves tonight I’m inviting you to come into my life and one of the ways I’m doing that is is by regularly daily partaking of your word having you instruct me by the words that you’ve given for my instruction and I believe these people are willing to do the same thing I pray that you’d give us the burden to study the Bible for ourselves to know what it is that your spirit is saying to the churches to us your people make up your church we are living stones being hewed and prepared for the for the putting together of the temple so that your spirit your glory can fill that temple I’m asking that you please be merciful to us help us to realize the love and the care that you have for us so that we can continue to surrender our lives to you I do pray you’d guide and keep us as we listen now to a song we thank you so much for this opportunity for us to be able to yield ourselves to you and pray that you would empower us to walk with you at every step to use our minds to conclude that the best thing for us for our family for our friends for anybody in our influence is for us to walk with you to give that example to them and to potentially bring them to you as well thank you for this and we love you in Jesus name Amen ….
