Revelation Chapter 11:5
Revelation 11:5 – And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.
God protects His two witnesses during their ministry and gives them power to kill their enemies with fire that comes out of their mouths. Moses and Elijah destroyed their enemies by calling down fire from Heaven, but it did not come out of their mouths like the two witnesses:
“Fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth”: Probably this refers to literal fire. These two will be invincible during their ministry, protected by supernatural power. The false prophet will counterfeit this sign (13:3).
The world police and even the military will be powerless to silence them. Anyone who attempts to stop them from preaching is instantly destroyed. Even Antichrist’s satanic powers are no match for these two fearless and God empowered preachers of truth. There can be no doubt that these two witnesses will have the attention of the entire world! Their message will be a declaration to all the nations on this earth to repent and to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the world’s rightful ruler.
Exodus 9:23 – And Moses stretched out his rod toward heaven; and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire darted to the ground. And the LORD rained hail on the land of Egypt.
2 Kings 1:10 – So Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men.” And fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
Luke 9:51-55 – Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of.”
We do see that a third of the world’s population dies in the sixth Trumpet judgment by fire, smoke, and brimstone that come out of the mouths of supernatural horses (Revelation 9:17). Also, God breaths fire out of His mouth in judgment:
Psalms 18:6-8 – In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry came before Him, even to His ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the hills also quaked and were shaken, because He was angry. Smoke went up from His nostrils, and devouring fire from His mouth; coals were kindled by it.
Fire from God’s mouth is His Word:
Jeremiah 23:29 – “Is not My word like a fire?” says the LORD, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”
God’s Word is also described as a two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12, Ephesians 6:17), which can make a person “burn” with conviction, or literally slay the unrighteous as with a sword or fire:
Luke 24:32 – And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”
Hosea 6:5 – Therefore I have hewn them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and your judgments are like light that goes forth.
Isaiah 11:4 – But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.
Jeremiah 5:11-14 – For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously with Me,” says the LORD. They have lied about the LORD, and said, “It is not He. Neither will evil come upon us, nor shall we see sword or famine. And the prophets become wind, for the word is not in them. Thus shall it be done to them.” Therefore thus says the LORD God of hosts: “Because you speak this word, behold, I will make My words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 – And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.
Revelation 19:15 – Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Jeremiah the prophet had no choice but to share God’s Word because it was like a burning fire within him until He did:
Jeremiah 20:9 – Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.
The two witnesses will surely complete their testimony just as Jeremiah did, and anyone that tries to interfere will become “toast”!
